Remains settings

Every option of Vaskar's Remains, with its default, read from the mod's own config class. In game, most of them are under Options → Remains; on a server they live in config/remains-common.toml. Brutality (bones, mild, rough, full) is a setting of its own in the in-game menu.

Bodies placed by the world

enableddefault onon / off

Whether this mod places any bodies in the world at all. Off leaves the block, the command and the data pack hooks working.

other_peoplesdefault offon / off

Whether world generation also makes the bodies and places of elves and orcs: their camps, graves and crosses, and the orcs among the battlefield dead. Off, only humans and human places are generated, unless the world says otherwise (the new-world screen's button, /gamerule remainsOtherPeoples). On, every world has them.

densitydefault 1.00.0 to 4.0

How much of what the data pack asks for actually gets placed. 1.0 is as written, 0.5 is half as many, 2.0 is twice - anything over 1 can only place what the data pack already tried to place.

What you can do with a body

searchabledefault onon / off

Whether a body can be searched by hand, one thing per click. Off makes every body scenery and nothing drops from searching.

survival_editordefault offon / off

Whether the editor opens in survival as well as creative. Meant for build servers. On, anybody can restyle and dress any body.

sicknessdefault onon / off

Whether going through a body that has started to rot can turn a player's stomach: a little hunger, and now and then nausea.

draggingdefault onon / off

Whether a body on the ground can be taken hold of and dragged: crouch and use an empty hand on it, use a hand again to let go.

drag_slowdowndefault 1.00.0 to 2.0

How much dragging a body slows a player down. 1.0 is as designed - about half speed for a man with nothing on, more for an orc in armour, less for bones. 0 does not slow them at all, 2 is twice as heavy.

drag_reachdefault 2.51.0 to 8.0

How far, in blocks, a body can get from the player dragging it (caught on something, or fallen down a hole) before it is let go.

Your own body

enableddefault autoauto / on / off

Whether players leave a body. "auto": yes, unless another grave or corpse mod is installed (Corpse, Gravestone, Tombstone, YIGD, ...), which then does the job alone; "on": always, even beside one - two graves for one death; "off": never, things drop the plain way.

owner_onlydefault offon / off

Whether only the player who died (and creative players) may open their body. Off, anybody can go through it - the way it goes on a PvP server.

keep_experiencedefault onon / off

Whether the experience a player would have dropped is kept in the body and given back to them when they open it, instead of lying about as orbs.

Creature bodies

minutesdefault 10.00.5 to 1440.0

Real minutes a creature's body lies before it is gone. Whatever is still on it then is left on the ground.

sun_burn_secondsdefault 30.00.0 to 3600.0

Real seconds of sunlight it takes a body that burns in the sun (a zombie, a skeleton - #remains:burns_in_sun) to go up in smoke, ash and flame. 0 to turn it off.

Performance

light_modedefault offon / off

Whether the light mode is on.

Mob farms

enableddefault onon / off

Whether places are watched for being farms at all.

thresholddefault 24.01.0 to 1000.0

How much death a place has to see, in weighted deaths, before it counts as a farm. Each death adds its weight below; the total fades by half every half_life_minutes. Lower finds farms sooner, and risks calling a battle one.

half_life_minutesdefault 5.00.1 to 1440.0

Real minutes for the count of a place to fade by half.

remember_minutesdefault 20.00.0 to 10080.0

Real minutes a place stays a farm after the last death there.

radiusdefault 80 to 32

How many blocks round a death count as the same place. Counted in squares of 8, so 8 means the square it died in and the ones next to it.

weight_environmentdefault 2.00.0 to 100.0

Weight of a death nobody dealt: a fall, lava, fire, drowning, suffocating, magma, cactus - what the killing floor of a farm does.

weight_player_standingdefault 1.50.0 to 100.0

Weight of a kill by a player who has not moved since their last kill in the same place: somebody at the window of a grinder.

weight_player_movingdefault 0.50.0 to 100.0

Weight of a kill by a player who is moving about: an ordinary fight.

weight_otherdefault 1.00.0 to 100.0

Weight of a kill by anything else: a mob, a golem, a wolf, a dispenser.

spawner_multiplierdefault 2.01.0 to 100.0

How much more a death counts when what died came out of a spawner.

same_spot_multiplierdefault 1.51.0 to 100.0

How much more a death counts when it is within a block and a half of one of the last few deaths there: things dying on the very same spot.

cramming_is_farmdefault onon / off

Whether one death by entity cramming makes a place a farm straight away. Nothing dies of that anywhere else.

max_bodies_per_chunkdefault 240 to 4096

The most bodies left by deaths (not world generation) one chunk may hold. Past it, what dies there drops its things instead. 0 for no limit.

announcedefault onon / off

Whether players near a place are told, once, when it is taken for a farm.

Rot

enableddefault onon / off

Whether bodies left in the world move on through the stages by themselves. Bodies placed in creative, and bodies the editor marks as kept, never do; nor does anybody frozen, or lying somewhere cold enough to snow.

minutesdefault 10.01.0 to 100000.0

Real minutes from a death to the end of the body: fresh, bloated, opened, tattered, bones, each a fifth of it. Counted in world time, so it goes on while nobody is near and the chunk is not loaded. A Minecraft day is twenty.

enddefault sinksink / keep / despawn

What becomes of a body at the end of that time. "sink": the bones sink into the ground and are gone. "keep": the bones stay where they lie. "despawn": no stages at all - the body simply disappears when its time is up. Bodies the world itself laid out (camps, battlefields, graves) are never taken away, and a player's body never goes while their things are still on it.

Burying

gravestonedefault onon / off

Whether a grave mound with a marker is left where the body was. Off, the body is simply gone and what was on it drops.

Rise

enableddefault onon / off

Whether the dead rise at all.

chance_per_minutedefault 0.150.0 to 1.0

The chance a fresh or bloated body in the dark gets up, per minute it lies there.

A new player

near_bodiesdefault onon / off

Whether a player joining a world for the first time finds a few bodies near them and gets a lead, an arrow and a short guide to dragging, nailing and hanging bodies.

Around a body

crowsdefault onon / off

Crows coming down to bodies that have lain in the open a while; they fly off when anybody comes near.

scavengersdefault onon / off

Wolves, foxes and zombies stopping to eat at bodies, which rot a stage further for it.
